Bu g\u00f6vdeye en az iki elektrot yerle\u015ftirilidir. \u0130kisi de kar\u015f\u0131l\u0131kl\u0131 olarak elektrikli iletken materyaldendir. Akan su bu elektrotlarla galvanik \u0131slak halka olu\u015fturur. Bu halkan\u0131n elektrik gerilimim akan suyun molek\u00fcllerinin polarizasyonuna yeterlidir.<\/p>\n<p>Bu gerilimin geni\u015fli\u011fi 0,6 \u2013 0,8 V aras\u0131ndad\u0131r. Bu gerilim suyun elektrik iletkenli\u011fine ba\u011fl\u0131d\u0131r. Bu durum 50 \u2013 2 000 uS\/cm2 iletkenli\u011findeki sularda ya da 50 ila 2 000 mg\/l aras\u0131nda tuz i\u00e7eri\u011fine sahip sularda kullan\u0131labilir.<\/p>\n<p>Suyun bu elektrotlardan ge\u00e7i\u015fiyle suda karbonat, s\u00fclfat ve klor\u00fcr olarak bulunan magnezyum (Mg*), demir (Fe 2 *, 3 *), kalsiyum (Ca2*), tuzlar\u0131 hidroksite (ayr\u0131\u015f\u0131rlar) \u00e7\u00f6z\u00fcn\u00fcrler. Sonu\u00e7 olarak bu par\u00e7ac\u0131klar borularda, kazanlarda, \u0131s\u0131 e\u015fanj\u00f6rlerinde vb. kristalik kirlilik olu\u015fturma yeteneklerini kaybederler.<\/p>\n<p>Su ar\u0131t\u0131lmas\u0131n\u0131n fiziki temeli serbest elektrik y\u00fck\u00fcn\u00fcn su molek\u00fcllerine \u201ege\u00e7mesi\u201c, veya \u201eyerle\u015fmesi\u201c ve bunun sonucunda da polarize olmas\u0131d\u0131r (e\u015fit y\u00f6nlendirilmi\u015f). Bu efekt suda \u00e7\u00f6z\u00fcnen kat\u0131 maddeciklerin \u015fekil de\u011fi\u015fimini sa\u011flar, art\u0131k onlar kristalik kafesler olu\u015fturamazlar \u00e7\u00fcnk\u00fc de\u011fi\u015fik bi\u00e7im ve b\u00fcy\u00fckl\u00fc\u011fe sahiptirler.
